281 craft beers awarded a medal

For the third time Meiningers International Craft Beer Award took place in Neustadt / Germany in early April. More than 700 craft beers from 22 different countries were tasted and judged in the competition. The best 281 beer specialties were awarded a medal by an expert jury of 76 beer sommeliers, brewers, beer experts from the trade and the research as well as beer journalists.

The best Craft Beer national and international will also be honoured with the special award Craft Beer of the year: the brewery S. Riegele, located in Augsburg, with its Augustus 8, a dark Double Wheat Bock, is the best German Craft Beer of the competition.

Concerning the international beer specialities, the Boston Beer Company with its Samuel Adams Rebel Rouser, an Imperial IPA, is the highest rated Craft Beer and thus becoming the Craft Beer of the year international.

The best total result and therefore the award Craft Brewer of the Year national goes to Brauhaus Faust, Miltenberg, which has been awarded with a total of two Platinum, four Gold and three Silver medals for its submitted beer specialities.

The Boston Beer Company has been awarded with five Platinum, ten Gold and eight Silver medals for the submitted Samuel Adams craft beers and has also been awarded by the jury as Craft Brewer of the Year.
